The air filter was not protected at all (it should be within a plastic bag at the minimum) and the oil filter rubbed on it and caused wear damage to the “clean” side of the paper element. I used a high quality Amsoil oil made for Briggs and Stratton engines. This is the 3rd oil change on the generator and the oil comes out a little milk color like it has been mixed with water. The generator is on a concrete pad and there is gutters over it so it does not get anything other than rain on it.So change your oil every couple a months to get the water out THEN you can consider following the once a year oil change.We do this ever year regardless of hours used. Keep the previous years air filter and plugs till time for the next service. Better to have known good spare if there is an issue and the power is out and the roads are blocked.It comes packaged in a box but all the pieces come loose and we’re scattered everywhere. The two spark plugs were not gapped properly and the protective cover on the oil filter must have fell off in the shipping.
